The prey. 2011
7/10
A escaped prisoner tries to find his wife and daughter.
Good action film from France. Typical sorta things happen, lots of chases, near misses, fight scenes. The plot had the element that the person he is looking for is a serial killer. It didn't add much tension to the film, just a another plot device that was well used.
Trailer has american voice over.

Pegasus. 2019. China.
7/10
A rally driver stages a return.
Banned from racing a previous champion returns to the track as the new champion encourages him.
Amusing sport/comedy that has the usual things you expect from a film like this. Fall from grace, challenge accepted, team re-assembled, etc.
Some laughable moments, kinda slow but interesting.

Peter pan goes wrong. 2016.
10/10
A stage play filmed for release on TV.
Peter Pan the stage play performed by Mischief Theatre. Made to look like amateurs are acting with things going wrong most of the time.
Excellent production, consistently funny. Well worth it. The sets and costume changes were fast and multiple.
The clip is a mash up of clips of things going wrong, not in any order. The whole show had 'things going wrong' all the time so this is merely a sample.

Kingdom. Ashin of the north. South Korea.
7/10
A lone girl takes revenge when her village is killed.
90min film that sets up the Kingdom netflix series. Sort of. Having seen the first season, not the 2nd it doesn't really fit who S.1. starts but is a decent revenge film.
The zombies only happen late in the film, but still a interesting film.

A touch of sin. 2013. China.
8/10
Four different stories set in rural China.
The four stories are different but have one theme going thru them which is a distinct presentation of the lower class and how the rich treat them. At the end of each the main character seem to lose it with someone and some sort of violence ensues. The only difference is one bloke kills himself. They travel and seek out new a living, but remain trapped in low wage 'factory' work. Slow with some interesting scenes of day to day life. The violence tones down as the movie progresses but it shows subtly the amount of people in the 'working class' as opposed to the rich and just how indifferent they are.

@Jon E(vil) watches the best movies I notice no medals you should have some kind of movie medal.
Thanks Humungus.
Enjoy.

The Major. 2013. Russia.
8/10
Russian police major while speeding in his car hits and kills a child.
Written, directed and acting as one of the main officers, Yuriy Bykov crafted a brutal, moderate paced, simple but engaging thriller. The settings are harsh, from the white snow that covers everything outside to the chaos inside the police station. The film depicts corruption going to the top and how the officers deal with it. As it progresses it does become darker. This kinda hampers the film in that you begin to not really care for anyone if you already know their fate. But it reflects the characters reality.
Similar in tone and style to other Russian films iv seen but still a excellent watch.

Girl and the wooden horse.
1982. Japan.
4/10
A school girl dream of rope bondage.
Simple film that was border line porn. From a style of film called 'Pinku' it's a uninteresting storyline about a school girl who dreams of rope bondage and her teacher who in the end helps her achieve her fantasies. I lasted about 15 mins before i clicked thru it. Run time of 68 mins. There are earlier films in this style from the late 60's and 70s that are more brutal with a little more story.

Blood red sky. 2021.
4/10
Vampires on a plane.
Netflix original that is about 30mins to long. The idea is simple, a group of terrorists take over a plane with the aim of crashing it in...somewhere. But oh no, there is woman going to the states for treatment because...shes a vampire.
Dumb fun and it almost works. Starts with a landing a boy being rescued, from there it's a flashback, in that is the origin story of how the woman became a vampire, another flashback, in parts. The ending is interesting but i was bored by the one hour mark and just clicked thru to end.

Sabata. 1969.
7/10
Lone gunman takes on corrupt officials.
Spaghetti western style film. Kinda slow but plenty of shoot outs through out the film with the usual massive one at the end.
Not quite the standard of the Leone/Eastwood ones but interesting. Stars Lee Van Cleef.
Colorful with a few interesting characters.

Third Watch
At that time was a pretty successful series in my opinion
Now sometimes I watch a part and in the meantime I also remember the period of how I fucked my life, how many good opportunities I missed 20 years ago
