I'd like to see some more pics of this if there are any. I'm assuming it was done as a form of execution, but I'm confused about the Abrams tank part. Wouldn't that imply that it was Americans who did it?

Not necessarily. The USA has sold a number of Abrams tanks to Australia, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
