Back Story: 100 vehicles pile up in Michigan crash as snowstorm moves across the country

Quote:

"HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- More than 100 vehicles smashed into each other or slid off the interstate in Michigan on Monday as snow fueled by the Great Lakes blanketed the state.

The massive pileup prompted the Michigan State Police to close both directions of Interstate 196 Monday morning just southwest of Grand Rapids as while officials worked to remove all the vehicles, including more than 30 semitrailer trucks. The State Police said there were numerous injuries, but no deaths had been reported.

Pedro Mata Jr. said he could barely see the cars in front of him as the snow blew across the road while driving 20-25 mph before the crash. He was able to stop his pickup safely, but then decided to pull his truck off the road into the median to avoid being hit from behind.

“It was a little scary just listening to everything, the bangs and booms behind you. I saw what was in front of me. I couldn’t see what was behind me exactly,” Mata said.

The crash is just the latest impact of the major winter storm moving across the country. The National Weather Service issued warnings about either extremely cold temperatures or the potential for winter storms across several states starting in northern Minnesota and stretching south and east into Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York."

Just the other week I was driving on an uphill curb, and the day prior was quite nice so a lot of snow melted. It quickly froze overnight, and this caused me to slide off-road after spinning six hundred degrees, going through a ditch, and ending up in a field. No reaction, just sat there waiting until I stopped moving, grateful I was the only one on the road. Reattached the front bumper, restarted the car, and went about my day. Made it to work on time.

It'll be -25F/-31C this morning due to wind chill.

This stuff scares the crap out of me. Last month I drove 17 hours from Minnesota home. This kills the southerner. I did a little slippy slide too, thankfully not into a ditch. Glad you're safe.

Imagine being a careful driver correct speed for the snow and spotting that up ahead and slowing only for some fuckwitted fuckstick to slam into the back of you. That's what 95% of them silly twats would have done. Then again why drive in it? Same happens here when it's foggy. Signs say slow down etc but no you get silly cunts speeding even more for some reason. They used to call it motorway madness.

First night I got my license it has snowed. I had 3 friends in the car. We didn’t even make it out of my neighborhood before I took a curve and lost control. Spun around 360 and was an inch away from smacking a mail box. Came to a stop and we all looked at each other in shock. Snapped me into reality real quick to not drive like a fool on the main roads for all my life lol.
