From what I read. The writer, some guy named Andy Greenwald said he hadnt read the books which allows him to have more creative possibilities despite the "Guaranteed hit" if they stuck to the books themselves. In other words, they are either looking to kill it in season one and move on or they are just that stupid.

U know what Idris Elba is fkn ace I've always liked him as an actor and I did suggest him as a Bond for the woke brigade plus he does have a suave kinda Bond thing to him...... was when all the shite started appearing about the new bond online I think they cast some random foreign asshat in the role tho or was he supposedly English but called like Gregorio Chasadukae or sum random made up name like that 🤣🤣🤣
