It doesn't add up. Sounds like a clever scheme to convince people they're creating or using "green energy". The problem is, it takes an enormous amount of power to desalinate and process water to render it fit for splitting into hydrogen and oxygen. The entire process can't be done by solar power alone. To put this into perspective, it would take a solar panel about 12 square feet exposed to direct sunlight for about two hours to desalinate one gallon of water. That gallon of desalinated water will produce just enough hydrogen that when burned would produce less than 1000th the energy required to desalinate the water to begin with. Then you have to factor in the disposal of the salt and other debris in the water...Probably some feat of engineering, idk. I googled it and AI told me it was solar 🤷🏻♂️
Solar power directly converted to electricity is the way to go. Solar to hydrogen conversion was proven inefficient decades ago.
