Philosophy, anyone?

You're a bit of dick, aren't you? With a finite number of noted philosophers to choose from, you criticize someone for referencing one of the few? And you do so with a distinct air of derisive pomposity, as if the ideas of the philosophers you enjoy are the fruits of your own mind? What kind of pretentious elitist twat are you? How old are you? I'd reckon late teens to mid-20s. If you're any older than that, then your behavior is embarrassingly childish; if you're within the age range I've indicated, then your intellectual insecurities are shining brightly through. Whatever the case, you need to check yourself if you really want to acquire any wisdom of your own in your life, because the wisdom of others is not conducive to transference by reading; it must be hard won by the individual himself through his own trials, his own successes, and especially, his own failures; and humility is a key component of that process.
Yeah i noticed he's been negging members pictures in the photo album and other random things that make zero sense. Definitely an angry young man who gets no pussy or any attention irl.

I’ve also seen @HG and others doing the same..does what you say also imply to them? We’re just messing around not that much of a big deal lol

Projecting much? The only thing ‘shining brightly’ here is your desperate to sound superior. For someone so eager to flaunt ‘wisdom’ and ‘humility,’ you sure come across as a sanctimonious blowhard who probably Googled half those words to sound impressive. If dissecting my age and personality from behind a screen is your idea of ‘hard-won wisdom,’ then I’d hate to see what failure looks like in your life. Maybe instead of clinging to armchair psychology and stale insults, try getting over yourself. Nobody’s impressed by a walking ego with a thesaurus. If your ‘wisdom’ boils down to smug psychoanalysis, maybe work on yourself first before trying to lecture others.

No sanctimony on my part, son; only years of trial and error, and a bit of that "hard-won wisdom" you seem so disdainful of. As far as failure goes, I have failed a lot in my life. There is no shame there. If you think there is shame in failure then it's no wonder you're so defensive over criticism aimed your way. Btw, I didn't dissect your age; I estimated it, and I couldn't have been incorrect in that hedged estimation unless you are too young to be on this site. Neither did I dissect your personality; rather, your attitude in text. If you're going to study philosophy, you're going to need to pay closer attention to textual specificity (the devil's in the detail's, you know). And if it sates your intellectual insecurity to think that I handily consult Google or a thesaurus at a moment's notice in order to sound superior, then please, by all means, do it if it helps you feel better about yourself.👍

It’s amusing to see you conflate your misguided sense of wisdom with actual experience. You speak of failure as if it’s a badge of honor, but it sounds more like a deflection from your insecurities. If you’re so confident in your “hard-won wisdom,” then why the need to belittle others?

Estimating my age as a means of critique reveals more about your character than mine. Perhaps you should focus less on age and more on the content of the discussion. Your notion of philosophy seems limited to superficial observations; real philosophical inquiry requires depth, something you seem to lack. And just a note: relying on Google or a thesaurus isn’t the same as possessing intelligence. It’s telling that you think that’s what makes someone sound superior. If you need to convince yourself of that to feel validated, that’s your problem, not mine.

It's threads like this and the personalities of the OP is what drives me into fits of disgust at humanity. what a cunt!
Discussing philosophy drives you into ‘fits of disgust at humanity’? If you’re so disgusted by humanity, maybe it’s time to reflect on why you engage in these discussions.

I’ve seen most of your comments and they’re nothing but degrading replies. Does that seem to you better than discussing important topics?

I get that you didn’t quote Simone directly, but referencing her still feels like you’re leaning on someone else’s ideas to challenge my perspective. It’s like you’re using her as a shortcut to imply I have a ‘limited worldview’ without really engaging with my actual points.
Oh, the irony is just delicious.

You create a thread about philosophers, I attempted a bit of lighthearted banter, a mere jest about yourmom, but it appears my attempt at humor fell flat. I respond to your delightful 'prostitute' comment by mentioning a, shocker, philosopher(Simone, who actually wrote about prostitution), and suddenly I'm leaning on someone else's idea?

I’ve also seen @HG and others doing the same..does what you say also imply to them? We’re just messing around not that much of a big deal lol
See? Just like in your Philosophy class, you're not taking down notes.

So, what does @HG often, if not always, react with? Come on, repeat after me, will ya?

They are conflated because they are interrelated. Aside from the "misguided" modifier, was that intended to be an insult?
You speak of failure as if it’s a badge of honor, but it sounds more like a deflection from your insecurities.
Failure itself is not a badge of honor; recovering from and overcoming failure is. And regarding the psychological reality of humans, insecurities are possessed by all. You would do right by yourself to embrace your own rather than to deny them or to deflect them as injuries against your self-worth or faults in your character.
If you’re so confident in your “hard-won wisdom,” then why the need to belittle others?
Oh, you're the victim now? Lol.
And do you not remember I was critiquing your shitty attitude and your belittlement of another for reference to a philosopher for whom you evidently hold disdain?

I take it you're young then. And the "content" of your post was derisive, not constructive as you're trying to imply, hence my critique of your attitude in the matter.
Your notion of philosophy seems limited to superficial observations; real philosophical inquiry requires depth, something you seem to lack.
My notion of philosophy is definitional, and therefore encompasses classical, continental, and analytic philosophy. Again, if it makes you feel better to think I am lacking in something, please do so if it helps your glaringly fragile self-esteem in this matter.
And just a note: relying on Google or a thesaurus isn’t the same as possessing intelligence. It’s telling that you think that’s what makes someone sound superior. If you need to convince yourself of that to feel validated, that’s your problem, not mine.
You seem to have misunderstood my sarcasm. I do not use either. And you're the one who intimated I sounded superior, not I. How did you forget that you stated that yourself? Are you drunk?

Btw, have you noticed all the negs you've received on this thread due to your attitude vs all the positive emotes I've received in my critique of it? That's quite telling, isn't it?

Ah, the irony is thick. You bring up philosophers but dodge the actual philosophy. Dropping Simone’s name isn’t a substitute for real points—nice try, though. Maybe next time, aim for more than just edgy humor.

Engage, don’t evade.

Not an insult, more like an observation. Wisdom and experience might be related, but mistaking one for the other doesn’t make them the same. Keep reaching, though; you’re almost there.

Failure itself is not a badge of honor; recovering from and overcoming failure is. And regarding the psychological reality of humans, insecurities are possessed by all. You would do right by yourself to embrace your own rather than to deny them or to deflect them as injuries against your self-worth or faults in your character.
True, everyone has insecurities, it’s how we handle them that shows our character. Embracing failures is admirable, but let’s not confuse acceptance with avoidance. Reflection can go a long way.

Oh, you're the victim now? Lol.
And do you not remember I was critiquing your shitty attitude and your belittlement of another for reference to a philosopher for whom you evidently hold disdain?
Victim? Hardly. You seem more concerned with trying to save face than addressing the real issue. If you have a problem with my attitude, maybe you should look in the mirror and reflect on your own.

My notion of philosophy is definitional, and therefore encompasses both continental and analytic philosophy. Again, if it makes you feel better to think I am lacking in something, please do so if it helps your glaringly fragile self-esteem in this matter.
Your reliance on definitions reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of philosophy as a living discourse. Simply categorizing ideas doesn’t substitute for genuine engagement with their complexities. Insulting my self esteem only underscores your insecurity; it’s clear you lack the intellectual rigor to dive deeper into this conversation. Perhaps you should reconsider your approach before trying to lecture me on depth.

You seem to have misunderstood my sarcasm. I do not use either. And you're the one who intimated I sounded superior, not I. How did you forget that you stated that yourself? Are you drunk?

Your sarcasm doesn’t mask the fact that your argument lacks substance. The fact that you’re counting emotes instead of engaging in meaningful debate speaks volumes about your priorities. If you think popularity is proof of intellect, you’re sorely mistaken.
