“To Conflate" bears dual meaning in popular discourse: one, to draw together or meld; and two, (and less correctly) to confuse. I relied on the former in my response to you, while you used the latter. You see why definitions matter? And should you ever actually delve into the multifarious, branching, and overlapping recesses of philosophy and encounter the semantic muddle therein, you will learn that semantic accuracy is of paramount importance in rigorized philosophical study and discourse. Not an insult, more like an observation. Wisdom and experience might be related, but mistaking one for the other doesn’t make them the same.
A pompous neophyte once said "engage; don't deflect". I'm pretty sure he was gaslighting when he said that, but it's a valid piece of advice when used correctly and not as an ineffectual cope in text form, so I suggest you heed it.Keep reaching, though; you’re almost there.
Who said anything about accepting failure? Again, you don't read very closely do you? It seems you've conflated two of my sentences!True, everyone has insecurities, it’s how we handle them that shows our character. Embracing failures is admirable, but let’s not confuse acceptance with avoidance. Reflection can go a long way.
Gaslighting, my friend, is what you were trying to do there, and that is a sign of manipulative person trying to evade, not engage.Victim? Hardly. You seem more concerned with trying to save face than addressing the real issue. If you have a problem with my attitude, maybe you should look in the mirror and reflect on your own.
Now you’re just being argumentative. If I referred to philosophy by definition, it included also the/your classical definition of philosophical discourse.Your reliance on definitions reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of philosophy as a living discourse.
Lol, who claimed that? Now who's reaching? You seem to be pulling unfounded arguments out of your nether region.Simply categorizing ideas doesn’t substitute for genuine engagement with their complexities.
You pride and self-esteem are obviously wrapped up in this "discourse". It's plain as day for everyone to see and poke fun at. And as far as my intellectual rigor is concerned, it's quality or lack thereof has no bearing here, as you seem to forget this all began with me questioning your intellectual integrity in the matter and rightly calling you "a bit of dick". This isn't a philosophical engagement; this is a critique of your attitude, in which you yourself made a bitchy, oblique, insult to another member and their reference to a philosopher you think little of.Insulting my self esteem only underscores your insecurity; it’s clear you lack the intellectual rigor to dive deeper into this conversation. Perhaps you should reconsider your approach before trying to lecture me on depth.
Again, this is neither philosophical discourse nor "meaningful debate", this is a critique of you; and the emotes indicate that others perceived your dickishness as plainly as I. Maybe you should, likewise, use the emotes as an indicator of how poorly you come across in text. You yourself may want to reflect and use that as an opportunity for self-improvement and growth in relation to that.Your sarcasm doesn’t mask the fact that your argument lacks substance. The fact that you’re counting emotes instead of engaging in meaningful debate speaks volumes about your priorities. If you think popularity is proof of intellect, you’re sorely mistaken.
And one last Lol: you’re insistent you’ve been after discourse this whole time, but fruitful discourse requires good faith on the parts of the interlocutors involved; as such, you reneged on your good faith from the get-go and showed your true intent through your childish animus. So, you’re apparently not only bad at being honest, but you're also apparently bad at being dishonest as well. I’m sorry, that must suck for you, dude.
I'll not reply to you again, so if you'd like to chock that up to a win in your book, again, please do so if it salvages your evidently small-penis-fueled pride in this matter.
