A group of men reportedly on their way to Bondi Beach from Melbourne has been detained by heavily armed police in a dramatic traffic stop on a busy street in Sydney’s west.
NSW police were tipped off that the men were driving to Bondi Beach and they were intercepted in Liverpool, according to Sky News.

Video from the scene on Liverpool’s George Street on Thursday shows tactical police toting rifles and wearing green camouflage uniforms, helmets and vests handcuffing several males’ hands behind their backs.

Two of the men are down on the road, directly behind a stopped vehicle; the others appear to have been detained on the footpath.

Why the men were travelling to Bondi is not known.

Images taken after the arrests show two men clad in black and on their knees, with their hands zip-tied behind their backs.

NSW police at 5pm confirmed that a police operation was under way on George Street, Liverpool, and that there was no ongoing risk to the community.

Several rubber bullets appeared to have been fired at the scene, with one photo showing a smashed section of windscreen.

The video also appears to show two stopped vehicles, which had a head-on collision, next to the men being detained.

A white hatchback that had been involved in the collision, with Victorian number plates, remained at the scene with police tape draped across it.

A second video shows what appears to be a second arrest of a man travelling in another car with Victorian number plates, that incident coming at the nearby Laurantus Serviceway.

Opposition finance spokesman James Paterson said the operation “shows the heightened environment we’re in”.

He said images of police in camouflage, holding long arms and standing over detainees with their hands zip-tied behind their backs, was “an image we’re more used to seeing come out of Gaza, not out of Sydney”.

“Police don’t take action like that lightly,” he told Sky News.

The police operation comes amid heightened tensions following Sunday’s mass shooting at Bondi Beach.

Although police have not confirmed the reason for the detentions, Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett on Thursday morning said more raids would come in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack.

“In the coming days, the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team will execute further search warrants to support our investigation,” she said.

“There is a lot of material to be examined, and the AFP continues to work with both domestic and international partners to build a more complete picture of the movements of the alleged offenders and who (they) had contact with, both in Australia and offshore.

Liverpool is about 30km southwest of the Sydney CBD.

Leo Kearse covers this issue well in his usual style.

He makes a good point that if right wing nazis killed a bunch of Jews, the media wouldn’t be telling us to make sure we don’t turn it into aggression towards the rest of the peaceful nazis and that we must understand and respect their culture.

Bloke at the start mentioning "Extreme Right Wing" reminded me of the BBC report somehow blaming the synagogue attack the other month here by Muslims on the right wing!

I would imagine there's more to this than meets the eye.

I wonder if they were armed or had IED's?

Our PM is all gung ho with leftist anti gun ideas but a bit of nitropil, some det cord and diesel and instant Jihad...
Pretty sure I read somewhere that they found a couple of licensed firearms and a pistol, and somebody got arrested or charged for the pistol
But I may be imagining this tho

Albenese our PM is wildly out of his deapth on this one. It seems like a turning point may have been reached in Aus anyway. I hope i'm not premature in saying that.

Melbourne Uni is a hot bed of antisemitism and wildly pro aboriginal activism. No right wing there at all...

Eminent Aboriginal academic Marcia Langton has lashed out at “devious and underhanded anti-Semitism’’ at her elite university.
Professor Langton said the University of Melbourne, where she is an associate provost, “employs neo-Nazis’’.

“As an academic at the University of Melbourne, I find the devious and underhanded anti-Semitism of some of my colleagues intolerable, and our policy an embarrassment,’’ she writes in The Australian on Friday.

“My university employs at least two neo-Nazis in academic positions, and one of them is clearly committed to the Great White Replacement Theory, although guileful in his various public and private statements.’’

Professor Langton – an anthropologist who has held the foundation chair of Australian Indigenous Studies at the University of Melbourne for the past 25 years – is one of Australia’s most distinguished Aboriginal academics, and a member of the Expert Panel on Constitutional Recognition of Indigenous Australians.

She refused to name the alleged neo-Nazis or elaborate on her claims.

The Great White Replacement Theory is a far-right conspiracy theory that Muslim people of colour are deliberately “displacing’’ white people through a higher birthrate and mass immigration.

The University of Melbourne was asked to comment on Professor Langdon’s claims but did not address the allegation it employed neo-Nazis.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to combat anti-Semitism on our campuses,’’ a spokeswoman said.

“We recognise Jewish members of our community experience particular forms of prejudice or hate which constrain their freedom to live, work, study, worship and identify as Jewish in Australian society.’’

The spokeswoman said the university would continue to work with the special envoy to combat anti-Semitism, Jillian Segal, as well as the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, students and staff “to create campuses that are safe, welcoming places of respectful dialogue’’.

Professor Langton’s explosive declaration came as federal Education Minister Jason Clare flagged a government crackdown on Jewish hate on campus.

He said universities must do “more work’’ to stamp out anti-Semitism.

“The fact is, Jewish students have been made to feel unwelcome on campus,’’ Mr Clare said.

“We will introduce legislation to increase the powers and penalties available to the tertiary education regulator to enable them to act where universities don’t.’’

Mr Clare said a “report card’’ on universities’ action against anti-Semitism would be delivered next year by constitutional lawyer and former Australian Catholic University vice-chancellor, Emeritus Professor Greg Craven, who told The Australian this week that universities were“morally complicit’’ in the growth of anti-Semitic sentiment in Australia.

Universities will also face intervention from the government’s new education taskforce, chaired by the outgoing University of NSW chancellor David Gonski, who is Jewish.

The federal government plans to pass legislation next year to grant TEQSA new powers to punish universities with fines.

Ms Segal recommended six months ago that public funding be “withheld, where possible, from universities, programs or individuals within universities that facilitate, enable or fail to act against anti-Semitism’’.

“Working with government and grant authorities, the envoy will, where possible, establish that all public grants provided to university centres, academics or researchers can be subject to termination where the recipient engages in anti-Semitic or otherwise discriminatory or hateful speech or actions,’’ her recommendation stated.

The Albanese government failed to explicitly address those recommendations on Thursday, but The Australian understands that Mr Clare plans to give TESQA new powers to financially penalise universities over anti-Semitism.

The elite Group of Eight universities has established its own “expert oversight and implementation committee on anti-Semitism’’, to be led by former chief scientist and Monash University chancellor Dr Alan Finkel.

“Over the past two years, universities have been challenged to do better in recognising, preventing and responding to anti-Semitism and hate on our campuses,’’ said Go8 chief executive Vicki Thomson.

“The horrific terrorist attack at Bondi Beach was a brutal reminder of the deadly consequences of hate.’’

The Go8 includes The University of Sydney, UNSW Sydney, Monash University, The University of Queensland, The University of Melbourne, The Australian National University, The University of Adelaide and The University of Western Australia.

For those who don't know, this is PM Albenese, a 60 year old student radical who is now embarrassed by the Bondi Killings and finds the whole thing inconvienient.

He's weak as piss. A political manager not a leader.

“In the coming days, the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team will execute....."

I was hoping it was going to end "the 5 dark skinned men as no chances are now being taken"

World has gone soft...there's no place for islam outside of the middle east; every single muslim in "white" countries should be expelled to the ME, whether they are home-born or not. They simply cannot, and will not, integrate with other cultures. Centuries of history has proved that and the world is still at year 0 in that respect.
Hitler definitely gassed the wrong religion.

Hitler said "Arabs are the less to care for, sooner or later they will all kill themselves"

I picked up Democracy 4 in the current Steam sale and have been creating Aussie police states. Kind of fun, I guess, but I never get reelected.

Give 'em Hell.
