By the way, I took a security, non-lethal weapons, and armed escort course about 5 years ago. In Brazil, there's a law that says if you're in a situation where you need to shoot, you have to shoot into the air first; if the person doesn't surrender or run, then shoot them... In the course, the instructor said, "The law exists, but in practice, unload the magazine into the thief until you realize he's not going to surrender or run, and then shoot the last shot into the air." Very good.
