Being Presbyterian I have never understood the pope thing. We go right to the Big Guy when needed.
I don’t understand the logic behind prohibiting fathers from marriage either. How can they truly understand and provide insightful guidance related to marriage and fatherhood if they can’t experience either? Who came up with the idea of putting a bunch of church generated incels in a position of total power over their flock of married parents and their children anyway?
This seems like a policy intended to make “fathers” the monastery house studs to keep the nuns happy. If that was the intent it didn’t work. I guess they never thought that some fathers would rather have a house full of choir boys than a house full of nuns…
If the church really wanted to stop them from raping choir boys wouldn’t they allow fathers to marry, or at least make sex with nuns a fringe benefit for both? Nun sex sounds so much better than none-sex. The nuns would probably be receptive, they must be tired of using tools in the hands of their sisters to relieve their “hysteria”.
And why don’t we ever hear of nuns having sex with the choir boys? Doesn’t it happen? Maybe the sisters actually love the Lord and uphold their vows. Or maybe the choir boys know a good thing and stay quiet.
I’m not trying to offend my Catholic friends here. All my comments are tongue in cheek. I understand the Pope is the leader of your religion and I respect that.
I’m just having some fun with my genuine curiosity. It seems like allowing fathers to be married would decrease the incidence of child rape in the church and be a good recruiting tool to attract “sexually normal” men to the father role. As it stands today the rule would seem to attract sexually abnormal men. Celibacy goes against every organism’s reason for living, to procreate.
It’s logical that married men would be less likely to rape anyone, boys included. It should also decrease the nun abortion rate too…then again a career “Father”, knowing he could never “legally” procreate would probably get clipped, making nun sex a pretty safe hobby.
So many questions…

Google says they get $20,000 yr, food, housing and schooling for their children to dress up like this. I guess if you can deal with the clown outfit for a few years having “bodyguard for the Pope” looks pretty good on the resume for someone wanting to advance on the personal security arena. They say there are 135 on staff at a time and the competition is rough.
I guess $20k, food and housing is livable for a single guy right out of Ma & Pa’s house, especially if it launches you toward a $100K+ job after. I can see the attraction for an 18 Yr old Catholic wanting to be some rich person’s boy for a living without having to go the actual military/special forces route…
