A vicious raccoon mauled a 4-month-old girl as she slept inside her Philadelphia apartment this week.
Journi Black was snoozing on a bed Wednesday night in the home on North 22nd Street when the raccoon dragged the infant to the floor in a bloody attack, the victim’s family said.
My daughter was laying on the bed sleeping and I went to take my son to the bathroom. We heard a sound upstairs and we see a raccoon run down the steps,” the child’s mother, Ashely Rogers, told CBS Philadelphia.
“When I finally got to her, she was laying on the floor, so it had dragged her off the bed, across the room, and she was bleeding and crying and her whole face was red.”
The little girl was rushed to an area hospital, where she underwent surgery and needed 65 stitches on her face, FOX 29 reported.
Rogers and her 6-year-old son and daughter had just moved into the home days earlier, according to the reports.
Other residents at the property complained of a raccoon infestation.
“It’s terrible around here with these raccoons, yes it is,” neighbor Barbara Butler told CBS Philadelphia.

Doctors told the family it will take at least a year for the baby to fully recover, according to reports.
