Japanese scientists have developed a “slightly sweaty” robotic finger covered in living skin in an advance they say brings truly human-like robots a step closer.
The finger, which was shown to be able to heal itself.

Well that's just awesome, the Japs have developed sweaty self-healing robot skin. 10:1 the first full body model these weirdos make is going to come with ponytails and schoolgirl dress.

Eww la la Baby! Let Me fondle Your Monkey with My Flesh Like Tickalah!!!
Lmao,😂🤣😂...SP

In all seriousness this is pretty cool. Between stem cell therapies, bio 3D printing and innovations like this "robot skin" the future does look bright. That is until the robots merge with the zombies and then we're proper fucked.
I recently watched a show about the AI we are building into the robots we create. Some say that they are so advanced now, that in the future they may be so advanced that they may just decide that they don't need us humans anymore and eliminate us. Scary.

Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics" are bound to be broken once they develop self-awareness
  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I don't know much about robotics, but does this mean that it will soon be possible to actually build a real Robocop like in the movie, for example?

When you think of conventional robots its like whats used in manufacturing. Some that moves in a defined space with very specific defined actions. With the evolution of robots there are IMO are two things that are making it potentially scary. First is they're no longer fixed to a specific location meaning they can go free-range. Second the artificial intelligence where there's the ability for them to "think" and potentially make their own decisions.

I hope I'd dead when they take over.

A little weird yes but that's to be expected from the Japanese, aside from that it's actually really interesting watching stuff that would have been considered sci-fi a decade ago becoming reality

All it would take is an evil genius with access to the auto-manufacturing robots sitting idle in Detroit right now to repurpose them for evil. I would They would possibly mount them on to industrial sized Roombas and then set them loose on an unsuspecting city. The evil robots would grab hold of and zap a victim with their spot welding clamp arms while twisting the victim's nuts off with their wrenching arm.

It should be simple enough to code a 4th rule into their program to disregard Asimov's first three rules.

Was it called The Terminator?

This is all about sex and we all know it. Trying to grow a Jap porn robot thingy and passing it off ass "medical research" I know what those Japs are up to.

It was a documentary on various ways that the world could end. One man believed that the world could end as a result of the robots we created and their ever evolving AI taking us out and taking over.

Sorry. I couldn’t help the childish humour.

I’ve seen something similar. It is crazy what tech is available now. No doubt Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk will be cuddled up together on Mars before their AI supersystems eradicate humanity.

Im surprised they went with a finger first instead of making a self lubricating pussy
