Australian scientists have discovered a new species of the deadly funnel-web spider that is bigger and more venomous than its relatives, nicknaming it "Big Boy."

In research released Monday, scientists from the Australian Museum, Flinders University and Germany's Leibniz Institute discovered there are three species of Sydney funnel-web spiders instead of one. Scientists have named the 3.54-inch-long species Atrax christenseni, with a nickname of "Big Boy." Common Sydney funnel-web spiders, in comparison, can grow up to nearly 2 inches.

Back in the good ol' days when soldiers running around with tactical nukes were thought to be the next new step in warfare.
I read the other day that the Delta Dagger (Convair) had nuclear tipped air to air missiles as their accuracy was not too flash. They said that the Russians were scared shitless of them but not half as much as the US pilots who had to carry them.

This one's interesting. Pilot punched out due to a flat spin. Aircraft then came out on of it on its own and gently landed on snow and slid to a stop, motors still idling. Fixed and flew again...

Nuclear was the future, or so they thought. They tried nuclear-powered bombers, they tried nuclear-powered trains, nuclear powered cargo ships.... but either the technology was too heavy, or there were public doubts about the safety of such things.
