Police alerted to fight in Geylang​

Police said they were alerted to a fight along Lorong 16 Geylang at about 8:15am on Monday (Mar. 9).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 70-year-old man injured.

He was taken to hospital unconscious but later died from his injuries.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was also taken to hospital while conscious.
Preliminary investigations found that the two men knew each other, according to the police.

Investigations are ongoing.

Earlier reports indicated that the incident involved a dispute between the older man and a former employee.
The altercation reportedly escalated into a physical fight, with the elderly man suffering severe injuries.

He was initially admitted to hospital in critical condition before later succumbing to his injuries.

Emergency services had responded to the incident and both men were conveyed to hospital for treatment.
