These tariffs are made out to be the best thing since sliced bread, but, how are they working? If I, as an overseas trader, have a product that I sell for $10 per item get tariffed 20%, am I going to pay the USA a 20% tariff (to who?), drop my price 20% to allow the importer the same price? Or say $10 is the price & the importer pays the tariff, making the end user (you) pay more for the product, can't see how these tariffs can make the people of America better off, only the Government scamming more money from it's citizens while telling them how "great and beautiful" it will be. lol this country (US) is a joke, we used to export far more food than we imported, now (not sure about now actually, I know we were) we even export our chickens to China for processing, then sent back for market, and we import more than export. Self sufficient to mostly dependent, The USA used to build quality products, appliances, machines, clothes, toys, etc. Now just about everything is disposable, coming from China, Taiwan or some place with slave labor, to top that off, now that the competition is gone, the prices, for the most part, don't reflect the shit quality anymore either. Yes.Tyson, Smithfield, Purdue, Butterball, Boars Head. Mostly closed over rising operational cost and lack of labor, they still have operating plants. Boars Head VA plant closed over killing a dozen people over a listeria outbreak. As for the chickens and eggs only the anti biotic free chickens were effected, those were empty selves next to plenty of regular chicken that only went up a few cents. But that's over now.
