Police Still happy to live in Europe, could be worse... 2

No. The great majority of police officers understand what their job entails. There are thousands of police officers in the US working daily and saving lives and getting the bad guys. Of course there are a few bad apples just as there are a few bad doctors, lawyers, and Walmart employees. The problem is that when a cop messes up it becomes national news but when a clerk messes up, bleh. And remember the term "going postal", there's no equivalent like "going precinct".
I am a fan of police. I have a Blue Lives Matter sticker on my vehicle. But there are some cops here ( Tulsa Oklahoma ) who are Barney Fifes with a nervous trigger finger that will shoot to kill if you raise your hand up to scratch your nose! I am serious. Not joking.

( they shot and killed a 70 year old homeless grandpa who "brandished" a little 3 inch pocket knife from a distance of 30 yards! I could have grabbed it with one hand tied behind my back. But if you wanna be a coward....tase the guy! Sick the dogs on him! But don't shoot and kill grandpa....that was pathetic and so low to do that )

Who would YOU use to describe trigger-happy amateur policemen who are a danger to themselves and others? I can't think of anybody else more appropriate. Even if it was from the 60s TV show. ( I forgot to mention we actually had one in uniform here recently who thought he was tasing somebody but shot them instead....killing them. Oops! )

Actually Barney Fife wasn't a danger to anyone since he only had one bullet which he kept in his shirt pocket. I remember a female cop who shot a man because she mistook her service pistol for a taser. She resigned from the force. Probably somebody got sued.

ANY cops that neurotic and goofy are a danger to themselves and others. Especially when they have to put the bullet in the chamber. Which is what Barney did many times if you would remember the episodes. The police car itself is a weapon. You should see the way some of the Keystone Cops drive around here! Where are YOU from?

Well, I'm not from North Carolina. You must remember that The Andy Griffith show was a comedy and Don Knotts was the funniest actor. I really enjoyed it when he boasted in front of women! I also liked it when the town drunk would put himself in jail. And who would have thought that little Ron Howard would become a fine actor and director!

Yeah. But truth be told....there are MANY MANY police forces out there today ( and policemen ) who are a big fat joke! That was my whole point. Unfortunately sometimes they can be a dangerous joke too. ( a policeman in my prior town of Bonham Texas came by ...knocked on the door....told me my Leaves from the mower went too far out into the street !That's how busy the police were in Bonham, Texas )

They signed up for the job. Their qualified immunity in some cases is absolutely egregious. When you have the power of life and death you need to be held to the highest standard. As you said the vast majority are probably decent people, and they dont cost taxpayers untold millions.

There was a massive funeral today for a cop in Philly, who was shot in the neck in June during a routine traffic stop…he never recovered, only 31 yrs old, two little kids, and wife is a cop, also. I have a couple of cousins who are Philly cops, so they were most likely there, too.
Woman cops are the worst. They shouldnt be out in the field when the overwhelming majority of them can be easily ragdolled by 99% of the people they come into contact with. Would you want a female cop as your partner if your life was on the line and they held the thread? Theres a reason woman are still treated as objects in lots of places the world over. I mean literal property. The reason is without a proper weapon they cannot defend themselves against a man.
