A grieving family is calling for answers after a 36-year-old Aboriginal man died within hours of being released from Dubbo Hospital in August last year.

The Hampson family has granted permission to use Dougie Hampson's name and image.
Kamilaroi/Dunghutti man Ricky Hampson Junior, who went by the name Dougie, first presented to Dubbo Hospital with severe stomach pain and a popping, tearing sensation in his stomach.
Mr Hampson's family say he was sedated, given painkillers and released from Dubbo Hospital without receiving a thorough diagnosis.
He died several hours later as a result of a perforated duodenal ulcer.
Dougie Hampson's sister Anita Chatfield believes his care was not satisfactory and is concerned Mr Hampson's treatment was impacted by his Aboriginality.
"It was crazy, because in his bloods and everything it showed that there was something wrong, so why wouldn't you do any more investigations?" she said.
"He wasn't given an ultrasound; he wasn't given an x-ray."
Ms Chatfield said still images captured of Dougie Hampson as he left the hospital that day were also alarming.
Calls for change inside regional hospitals
Dougie Hampson's father Ricky Hampson Senior and his mother Lydia Chatfield are calling for a coronial inquest into their son's death.
They're asking NSW Health to implement more training and policy reform to address bias in the delivery of health services — particularly to Aboriginal people.
"Unless people are held accountable, Aboriginal people will keep dying like this," Mr Hampson Snr said.

National Justice Project chief executive George Newhouse, who is acting for Dougie Hampson's parents, said an inquest would offer the opportunity to put systemic patterns under the microscope.
"[An inquest] would provide transparency and accountability to a system that too often fails Aboriginal people," he said.
The Western NSW Local Health District offered their condolences to Dougie Hampson's family in a statement.
The LHD said it would assist in any coronial process in the future.
