To me they’re on some sort of sand bank that has a sharp drop off sort of like a cliff, you can see the difference in the colour of the water.
They can’t swim nor have survival skills that’s for sure hence playing on the bank and close to the edge, drop off the edge, panic and unable to save themselves. They sink to depths that you’re unable to see them, hence my sand bank theory.
