music Tunes That Should Be In Your Ears Vol 1-

I tend to write dark and bass oriented electronic music. However, I love decent tunes from most genres. I see music as a universal language that comes from the hearts and minds of amazing people (except shit like Justin Bieber). I ensure my kids hear every type of music and have a ‘dinner time’ playlist with a bit of everything.

So I thought I’d share some of the lesser known tunes that helped form my production style and evoke positive emotions.

I’m always up for hearing new music so please do share any tunes you feel are special too…

Love this tune by Smoke City…

Portishead are amazing musicians, dark and minimal but perfectly executed music with vocals by the legend Beth Gibbons…

Tricky was around a similar time to Portishead…

This is one of my favourite tunes. It’s 10 minutes long, the vocals start around 03:20…

This was one of my wife and I’s come down tunes to chill out to after a heavy night back in the student days…

I’ll add to this thread, and will probably do other genres….

Massive Attack are well known, and are a big part of my journey towards music production. This is one of my favourite of their tunes…

Multi-track over-indulgence. Not a criticism, I think it's actually a genre of electronica, I'm just trying to encapsulate everything I heard. I harken back to the age of sweeping production values, the likes of Fripp and Eno and Floyd so it influences my own music too.
