I know lots of ukrainians as there was a huge wave of them back in the '30s and they settled here had lots of babies. In fact whole towns where everyone's name ends in chuk or sky. By and large nice enough people. The few russians I know are loud and boisterous, not really my type.

Funny that, I worked with 2 Russians, nice enough guys, BUT, always up for a scam, one used to move stolen cars around Europe, never got caught, does say a lot about their government when people have to scam to get ahead in life.

We have a lot of former German-Russians here; they could easily get citizenship after the end of the Soviet Union. I had 5 - 6 of them as coworkers in one of my last jobs for the city here. Most are 'good people' but there's a certain amount of criminals and addicts too.
I get along with them quite well, my best buddy Alex is from Kazachstan where his family was deported back then in WW2 because of the German roots.

i guess that the most useful thing that a noone can do is go there with the Red Cross and help those struggling people who got caught in the middle of shellings
