Trouser snake is an old Aussie expression.

I remember being on a camp with the Army Reserve and an old army nurse was giiving us a lecture on first aid and we were up to the snake bite bit.

Some idiot soldier asked her about trouser snakes and mentioned that first aid for this included sucking the poison out.

She'd obviously heard this thousands of times before and, with a wry smile, said 'Most of the time these trouser snakes are so small we just leave them alone...'
