I think putting a sack in the middle of the rope helps to stop it whipping if it breaks. Unsure if it works with a 'Snatchem Strap' if that is what was used. Hard to tell but tyre pressure looks a little high. For sandy terrain I usually drop it to about 15 PSI and the tyres really flatten out and provide a lot more area for grip.
I'm surprised fuel didn't have a corrosive effect on Blu Tac , I have no clue what that stuff is made of though. Did you roll up a big lump the size of a tennis ball? I would have ! then Gaffa taped over it.I think putting a sack in the middle of the rope helps to stop it whipping if it breaks. Unsure if it works with a 'Snatchem Strap' if that is what was used. Also, having a vehicle with a transfer case and the option of low ratio is useful too.
I did get my car flooded in the South Alligator River in Kakadu in the NT once, just after a guy had his head ripped off by a croc.
I was so pissed off I got out, got a rope, tied it on and another guy pulled me SLOWLY out of the water and a quick spray of WD 40 sorted out the electrics and off we went... 2 wheel drive car in those days but I sure took it up some 4x4 tracks! I holed the pretrol tank on that trip and blocked it up with Bluetack which lasted for months until I got a new tank... hole caused by the tank slamming on the ground going up tracks that clearly said 4x4 only... I was young...
