This video is an example of the shamples that is America and the tipping culture. He basically got a 25% tip and still isn't happy! The issue is this is actually single handedly putting me off visiting America!!

Is there a rule regarding tips? Why should they be relying on us tipping them to make a decent wage?

Some businesses are incentivised by a tax loophole or some shit by paying the employees less, and making them get most of their money by tips. I'm not in the business, that's all I know about it.

To answer your question, the general rule of thumb for tipping is 10% of the total bill 15% if the service was good. However tipping is not required by law at all in the U.S. it's a courtesy only. This driver needs to get bent $5 of a $20 total is 25% he got more than he deserved especially since he did a shitty job on the delivery anyways. If they aren't making enough money they need to do whatever it is they need to do to get a better job.

So most delivery places are different in what they pay a delivery person. Tipping a delivery driver should cost more because they have to drive the item to you. This means a 15 to 25 % tip is custom. If it is raining or the like that should be taken into consideration. I did this for a very short time and people are assholes. The first delivery was a girl that paid me nothing. It was a part of the delivery cost and sale. Simply people did not want to tip over the delivery charges. So you really spend 40% on gas.

As for a Waitress/Waiter that is based on service and that is again 15 to 20% but if the food is bad and service is minimal you can pay less.

Then you have curbside service say you drive to a restaurant and they deliver the food to your car. That is 10 to 15% because they really do nothing but hand you your food.

If you pick up food or use a drive through there is no tipping.

I dashed for awhile back in 2022 and, oh boy, are you ever right. The worst are the goddamn KIDS trying to get you to buy them delta 8 carts and vape pens. I lost out on like 20 bucks reporting them because the app could only refund me 5 bucks for the canceled order (at least they did that). Stupid ppl can't enter their address correctly half the time, so I ended up leaving A LOT of food in front of abandoned buildings in shady parts of town. I don't even feel bad for those ones, it's always that guy who doesn't leave you a way to contact them in case of this event. Grocery orders were the way to go, in my area. WAY more money for my mileage.

I moved to the U.S. almost 15 years ago. I have done whatever I can to assimilate to the culture and become a regular Joe. It's shit like this that makes me sick. What gives this prick the right to A) expect a tip and B) get mad and talk shit for not getting as much as he wanted? In the years that I've been here I've noticed this sense of entitlement growing not just in kids but in the adults as well. I'm sure that this isn't unique to America but it is so prevalent that going anywhere to do anything has become a nightmare. Fix your shit you dumb fucks.

Most delivery drivers in the US are making minimum wage which varies depending on the city/state that you live in. The minimum wage in NC is $7.25 per hour which is the same wage that I was paid for my first job 20 years ago. The minimum wage has not gone up at all. Also, delivery drivers have to pay for their own gas which again, here where I live in NC is an est. $3.50 per gallon & drive their own vehicles (not to mention the upkeep of their vehicle). If these delivery drivers want a decent place to live, their rent here in NC is going to run no cheaper than $800.00 per month but it's rare to find a decent home for anything less than a grand per month unless you're happy living in the hood. Then think about electricity (as long as your not living in the city & depending on the size of your home), your looking at roughly $150.00 per month, for water (in the county) your looking at roughly $25.00 per month (if you're in the city, it's much higher), car insurance for full coverage is around $150.00 - this estimate doesn't even include your own food or internet, etc. I tip decent because I've been in their shoes & understand their struggles. It's not easy and you are constantly dealing with cheap assholes that half of the time doesn't tip at all. Granted, anything is better than nothing but for a $20 pizza, I'd personally tip no less than $5 just for the simple fact that I didn't want to get off my lazy ass and go get it myself so I appreciate the non-lazy soul that delivered it to my door step, salute! 🍕 🥂

I do Uber Eats and don't really have any problem with whatever people want to tip me. It's very rare for somebody to not tip me at all, and I can honestly say I've never been upset at the amount people tip, only when they don't tip at all, or like this one woman decided to be a bitch and tipped me ten cents lol. But that's very rare like I said.

I don’t tip it’s a waste of money. When I go to a restaurant, why should I tip an unskilled waiter 20% of my bill? All they did was walk 20 feet from the kitchen to the table and put my food down. What an embarrassing job. Just like a trained monkey bringing food from the kitchen to my table. No different than a living conveyor belt. With or without tips they are required to make minimum wage in the United States this $2.13 per hour is total bullshit.
