though pedophilia is a disorder that people can’t choose to have, they sure as hell can choose whether or not they want to act on their impulses. those who act on their impulses and hurt/rape children deserve to burn in hell. those who are victim to the disorder, and seek out psychological help for it can be excused a bit.

Interesting post to make. Why does it matter to you? Do you have children of your own? Or do you know someone who is a paedophile? And why ask for other people's opinions on a topic that you already believe should be answerable by the highest form of punishment known to man?

96% of pedofiles are family members. With a majority of those being family members who are under the age of 20. So that would depend on how much you value family or believe a family member could change with help. Or if you believe it's just kids not knowing any better yet.

I often think those that aren't the perpetrator or victim themselves but DO NOT bother to prosecute these rapists of children but could of (& I mean the rape of prepubescent victims by deception especially) are as much of the problem if not more because they essentially enable it/them to be able to continue this unacceptable behavior.
Also, there was no reason to rename PEDOPHILES as "Minor Attracted People (MAPs)" & excuse them by medical means. 🙄 Maybe get your heads outta your asses rather than bitch & complain when you finally notice you are part of the reason & your measures to try & treat them for this "affliction" have failed & just stop trying to normalize pedophilic activities.
It's more than an "affliction" that is often indicative of their entirely fucked up mindset but, a heinous, serious crime.
If there was a way to make it so they paid for their own incarceration that would be great but, I don't think they do.

Why should civilized nations have to shoulder the burden of paying to incarcerate them for their lifetime though? Why protect them when those tax dollars are better spent on helping their victims or even just putting them towards education of the subjects within said civilized society? It's great to be able to claim to be a civilized society but to also be as equally ignorant to how to continue to advance those same societies isn't always a luxury society can truly afford.

I doubt anyone "chooses" to be pedo, considering they are the most hated upon of all the world's population. There would be plenty of them that choose not to act upon the impulses though, just as many homosexuals will not act on impulses also.
