I don’t know your plans but i hear that Ingall’s shipyard in Pascagoula Ms has a great apprenticeship program. They pay for your school and pay like $15hr while in school. Bumps to $25-$30 hr when trained and certified.

Not a temp job. They have contracts into 2040 to build Navy ships. Great Union job and cheap cost of living. Only an hour drive to Pensacola. A little further to Destin where there are bikini clad women on the beach 365 days a year…make that 340 days a year. They go topless during the 3 weeks for spring break.

Unfortunately I'm in Michigan, if a woman is topless at the beach here she's probably mentally ill.

Learning mig welding, figured I'd throw this out here to see if anybody's got pointers or advice that helped them improve. First day in class, safety, second day instructor sets examples and walks us through setup, third day practice starting a puddle and walking it, and today was my first day applying all of that on my own. So, how am I doing?

Instructor says great, my reply was I've gotta be good at something, I'm too old not to be. I guess I'm looking for experienced welders to break me into what to expect as well here? I'm open to whatever. I enjoy this, it's fun, I'll end up sticking with it. Just want the advice to improve.

My father one and only job was a welder for 40 years, I'm my father's daughter. He bought two houses that I eventually inherited and a whole lot of cash with it, he made like $4,000 a month which was pretty damn good back then. He's taught me how to weld since I was a little girl. Be careful wear your mask that light can blind you. Keep it up and it looks like you're doing a pretty good damn job to me!

I only welded in shop class as a kid, but looks professional to me too.
