I believe those are German cockroaches (Blattella germanica) @PinkE, and a whole colony of them in there at various ages, too. The line on the adult's back identifies them. Each tiny black spec is their excrement. Guten Appetit!

He should have taken that box outside at the first sign of a roach. I'm not taking the time to google how many baby roaches are in one roach egg, but I know there's a lot!!

There was so much roach feces it was like a layer of loose dirt in there.

We have them regularly living between the wood in the sawmill.
The local German sort is 'harmless' and easy to extinct (for a while) if they became too much. But don't stomp on them, or you have them in your car or house one day. The females carry the eggs with them.
