games What Game Are You Currently Playing?

@McM ..lets continue here...

Don't know, I had it installed for some weeks but it's easily possible that I missed something.
I just didn't found a Bf-109 to buy/get and didn't saw a mission editor to create SP and COOP stuff and an SP campaign. That's the way I'm testing a new flight sim if possible. I'm not saying it doesn't exist somewhere but I didn't see/find it. And I'm very good at not finding things directly in front of my face. But I can look again.
I'm playing almost only the modded Arma 3 version I have but I do one flight mission every day to prevent forgetting/mistaking the hotkeys (A3 and DCS need the whole keyboard) or testing a game which I see 'new' on steam or got recommended.

There are many BF109 ... in fact I think there are all subversions.

The game model is as follows:

1) You start playing with Tier 1 planes ... with that you earn money and research points and research and buy more advanced planes. If I remember correctly, the first BF109 are Tier 2 or Tier 3 ... you arrive quite quickly.
2) You have 4 crews, each crew is assigned a plane. This is important, because the crew is gaining experience as well with each plane. If you assign a new plane to a crew, this will cost you money (we are always talking about game money) in training.
3) Each plane in turn has a battle rank .. that goes from 1 to 10 .. This is to balance the combats, the combats are armed with planes/tanks/ships/helicopters of the same battlerank with difference + - 1

All this is for airplanes, tanks and ships too, and the new model, helicopters...

If you want to use the BF109 to test it, what you can do is select it to do a flight test. There the game puts you in a simulated match. But to play online, you have to accumulate money and research points to unlock it.

Ps. The simulation is excellent, based on the specifications that are 100% real for each plane, tank, ships... even the sound.

I prefer Fw.190 to the BF109

Thanks for all the info!

Of course is the FW 190 better! That was the reason the plane was built.
But sometimes when I'm in the mood, I'm starting the modded 'IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz' sim where you have a BF-109 E4 only against the early Spitfires and Hurries. Only 60 shots 20 mm in each wing (and 500 x 7,92) and the motor overheats in a fight after 5 minutes if you don't open the coolings completely.

That's excelent!!!

I never checked if in the most realistic mode War Thunder reaches that level of simulation.

The Fw190 accompanies my fighting style a little more ... I am quite aggressive, and I turn a lot....

Maybe because I like to get right in the middle of swarms of enemies and drive them crazy... ? ? ?

The Bf109 is a more balanced aircraft ... especially if you have to attack targets that have gunners.

Online in 'clan battles' we flew always in pairs, like the Germans and others did in WW2 and I liked to be the 'Kaczmarek' (No.2, wingman) who has to follow the No.1, pay attention to his 6 and continue the attack if he's missing the enemy fighter and you got the opportunity.
That's one of the worst flaws the 'new' IL-2 has, no simulation of this tactic for the AI in COOP and singleplayer career. Every AI squadron member is flying 'alone' and fights as he wants. Awful. But I bought some of their 'scripted campaigns', it's said in the forum they're better. We'll see.

In my particular case, I always played with 3 or 4 friends online in squad, and my role was very similar to yours, to get the bandits out of them ...

In this screenshot I am protecting the landing of one of the squad members (green).

Although a lot of times i played disruptively, that is, undo the enemy swarms ...and open a path for my friends ...

IL-2 Cliffs of Dover development was started still from the old team of experts, incl. the head and inventor of the series in 2002 Oleg. Everything broke apart after some years because of stress with the publisher, etc. and Oleg left the team as well. After that, the sim was developed/patched by a very good modding team but without access to copyrighted/encrypted files. That has changed last year, they made an agreement with the publisher and the next patch will be commercial but much better I think. I hope so.
The sim is only about the 'Battle over England' therefore only a few aircrafts, the early Spits are even more difficult to fly because they hadn't any fuel injection, a wrong move and the motor is 'barfing'.
