games What Game Are You Currently Playing?

Since I beat the last game too fast, I spent $30 on getting the Sherlock Holmes collection. Not a bad price! Here we go!

Emulation doesn't work like that. Ports, sure. Emulation though... no. Also, having both a gaming pc and current gen consoles has taught me that graphics don't matter. We won't be seeing any real increases in graphical output any time soon. Draw distance, shaders, lighting, all the stuff that makes our games look shiny don't mean shit because the people who make games aren't working on the stuff that should be important. The physical interaction with the world in any game still looks like absolute balls. Clipping and invisible walls are the norm. That's fucked. When you can instantly be drawn out of what is supposed to be an immersive experience it doesn't matter what kind of controller your using, or console/computer you're playing on.
I'm speaking hypothetically... I don't actually intend to do such a thing... Who would?
Also, I'm not boasting, I'm making a point about the major lack of quality (not to mention time relevant) components in consoles.
For me, immersion is pretty graphically dependent I can't get into a game that looks like it was made by a 40 year old nerd in his moms basement in the 60s. Except for the games I grew up playing, of course (Super Mario, LoZ, Sonic, etc.) - which are virtually timeless games.

I can agree to a certain point, but even PC only games are programmed to an average that doesn't push the boundaries of the hardware. No company has taken a stand as being only for elite systems, so this elite attitude that I see coming from PC users is rather silly.

And, of course what gamer could argue, the classics are awesome. Sometimes I wish I still had the old hardware because emulators don't really do it for me.

I suppose my reverence for hardware is largely based on potential. At the end of the day, you're right - no matter how powerful your hardware, you're limited by a programmer's best output - which isn't always great.
I actually have my original SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and Saturn, GameCube, Dreamcast, and even a TurboGrafx 16 (Now that's a rare one, only have two games for it: Neutopia and Alien Crush)! Occasionally I hook up the Dreamcast to play some Toy Commander. I'll probably sell them when they're worth a large sum of money.

I still have quite a few old consoles.

SNES, PS1, PS2, n64, xbox and xbox 360.

I think Playstation dropped the ball for me on ps3 but that's just for me personally. I know plenty of people who love theirs.

I forgot to mention I have my PSX, PS2, and Xbox as well. I figured the 360 and PS3 would be obvious. :P

I agree. I got the best PS3 - the 80GB MGS Bundle (don't care about the game or the series) because it had backwards compatibility with all my PS2 games. Unfortunately that PS3 died beyond repair and I've had not 1, but 2 replacements. My new one still freezes every time it's turned on, I just don't bother with it anymore. The main reason I had it was for Castlevania: SotN. But, the newer PS3's suck big floppy donkey... Well you know where this is going.

I got my nephew an Xbox One over the PS4 because it had a game I - er, I mean he - wanted (Killer Instinct.. I miss the N64 version). I am so disappointed by that colossal waste of money. I should've got a PS4 for him.

Does anyone who's not 10 years old here like the Xbox One? I'm curious now; I know I'm not alone in my disdain by any means.

Next gen is fine. Microsoft isn't. We went through 4 360's and our only PS3 survived the whole time and to this day. I'm not going back to the microsoft platform. Forget that.

I have to say my 360 is 2 years old, black slim 250gb and it's a dream never had a thing wrong with it.

I found when I had a ps3 quite a few huge games like Fallout3 and Skyrim ps3 used to crumble while trying to process the games, never suffered any of that with 360.

Sounds like you and me had opposite experiences with the opposite technologies and both converted to the other side.

I don't think I'd ever go PS again.

FTR ps1 & ps2 are class.
