What's your favourite horror video game?

Silent hill 4 (the one everyone seems to hate).. fucking loved that game when it first came out.. preferred it to the first 2 games (haven't played the others)
Otherwise the original resident evil.. not sure if it's the camera angles but the game just has this clunky hideous mechanic, which works but makes everything feel that bit more claustrophobic and slow, endless, trudging..
Ah and siren! When that first came out I thought it was great aswell

Don't really care for alot of the survival horrors now, outlast type things.. or amnesia and what not.. just running away sorta doesn't.. do much..
Might be the old shitty graphics and early look to games, some of the PS2 era horrors just had that oppressive, no progress, slow moving, rotten feel.. and the music was so good.. (last mariachi from silent hill 4 is such a good track.. could listen to it on repeat in an old dusty room, staring at a great big mirror, rocking back and forwards on some old creaking floorboard.. just for that atmosphere)

Was that with the huge worms in the subway?

Edit: I didn't like the console-ported controls.

silent hill 2 , P.T. , resident evil 2 and its remake , alien isolation , dead space 1

from top 1 to 5 , even though re2 and remake are 2 separate games but i bundle those 2 up.

Resident Evil 2 on first PlayStation.
The zombie doberman dogs diving through the glass windows when you walk down a creepy corridor!
I paid £50 for that too! I've honestly never spent that much on a game since. But it was worth it at the time!
I remember those damn dogs mad me scream.so loud I set the neighbors car alarm off 😂😂
Loved residents evil 1-3 and the earlier silent hills

That was resident evil 1. But it's still one of the first examples of a good jumpscare in videogames for sure.

144p recording woohoo
