There may be a few reasons why women end up having relationship with married men.
Firstly they find married men less aggressive and not likely to hit on them. It starts as friendship that later leads to sexual relationship.

There's actually a word for this, can't think of it. But I think what happens a lot of the time is women hang out with women generally, so women=(women X women). When men become married, by proxy they are generally going to be around more women. So by you being around your wife (women "squared") you will have have more interactions with women, because the more comfortable the woman is around you, the more attractive they will get just from you being around them(there's a word for this too).
