I'll try to fly the Russian planes too in the next time, did this a lot in the first IL-2 part, mostly the IL-2 itself. Others were the American P-47 and 51.

I see you have still all the writings in the sky, that's the first I try to disable or reduce in a flight sim, at least in singleplayer or for our own servers. I have only a small dot now (in IL-2), it appears in grey at 10 km and changes the color to red/blue at 5 km. Without the dot I wouldn't find any aircraft within a kilometer or two if the background is a field, forest or city, only white clouds or a clear blue sky makes them easily visible on 4 -5 km.

Stukas. (dot above)

Good choice. Of what is Tier 3 the P-47 and the P-51 are (in my opinion) the only two worthwhile USA planes. Especially the P-51 ... I love it, and with its cannons it is beautiful to make head-2-head. The rest its garbage (except the B25 bomber)

The indicators in the screen (and the view from outside) appear only in arcade mode (full HUD) which is the game mode that I play when I want to make a quick game (when I don't have much time)... In the realistic mode the indicators are very few, and in simulator mode there is no indicator at all , and the view is only from the cockpit. I don't usually play in a simulator because they are recreations of historical battles ... and that implies (for example) having to take off and be flying for minutes just to get to the mission. Realistic is more balanced in that aspect.

Now I am playing with Russian airplanes, and the IL-2 is serving me better as a fighter than as a ground attack aircraft, due to its 23mm front cannons :P

The IL-2 confuses the human players, because as it is a ground attack aircraft, most people think it is easy target, they face the IL-2 head2head, and they are broken down in seconds with its cannons....

Something similar happened to me when I used the Stuka.
(another plane that I like very much)

It's almost the same in IL-2 but you have to use mods to get rid of all the 'arcadish' stuff, like the indicators in the air and on the map. Without the mod the map would work as a radar screen, all planes and ground forces within some km range are visible by colored icons and your aircraft has a bigger icon. Holy shit...
The career mode I'm playing uses more or less historical recreations from Russian and German combat reports and other sources and the missions are about 1 hr normally. It's possible to skip the start and about the half of the way to the objective; but not the bomber escort missions because the meeting point is above your airfield and you have to wait for them.

Here you can disable them even in arcade. But obviously being a "human vs. human" game is like it doesn't suit you. Because in arcade others would have an advantage.

Different it is in simulator mode where everything goes out, and it is for everyone the same.

See they brought out some Chinese tanks and planes, the planes are cute ?

Yes, the same thing happened when they added Italy (I am from the old guard, I am playing since the game came out a few years ago ..) ... Those are countries that end up using airplanes, tanks and ships from other countries....

Anyway there is the issue of Battle Rank .. with that they leveled a lot, but according to the country they complicated things, for example, there are versions of FW 190 that have BR 6.0 therefore, you can get to fight against BR 7.0 aircraft ... and many BR 7.0 airplanes are jets ... with the Germans, at least in Tier IV you suffer at times of great disadvantages for that reason. And the same goes for German tanks ...

I started playing with the Russians, then I went to the Germans where I was a long time (and I made disasters ...), then I went to the British, then to the Japanese and after that, Americans.. then I went back to the Germans, and now I went back to the Russians.

In the Russians, British and Americans and Japanese I am in Tier IV. I took them to that Tier and left them there. In the Germans I am in Tier V. For both airplanes and tanks.

A favorite one from my teenage years, basically a diablo clone (or so wikipedia says).
I have never played diablo.

That's a cracking game lol don't often see it! Lost alot of time to it in my youth, along with neverwinter nights, diablo, baldurs gate, planescape torment (loved that one too, felt similar to this title), Icewind dale..
Old RPGs were brilliant
But nothing
Nothing compares to a modded beyond belief version of Morrowind lol..
Though these days I play quite a bit of fallout 3 modded to hell when I visit my mum, with the D.U.S.T mod and Various RTS themed mods I really love it, probably get a tad too involved though :p

Atm all I play is Mordheim on my phone for maybe an hour a week v.v

Oh wow you're very high tier, I only started recently to play with a friend of mine who is a bit obsessed to be honest lol it's the only game he's played almost every single day for about 3 or4 years now on pc.. I play on Xbox which is a bit difficult..

I hope to get to such a high tier eventually but it takes very long

Flying Bf-109s in simulators since 2003/04 when the first part of IL-2 (Forgotten Battles) came out two years before. I remember having some of Microsoft's combat simulators too, not so good. 'Lock On' was nice for modern combat (it's DCS World now), I hope they'll make more WW2 planes and maps in the future. At the moment there's only a Bf-109 K14 and an FW-190 D9 for me.

It's just a matter of time, also if you concentrate on a single country you will arrive quite quickly.

Something to keep in mind is that each plane has a lion multiplier (money) and a research point multiplier. If you want to move faster in Tier you should use the airplanes that grant more research points...

I had no idea about the multipliers! Thanks I'm going to definitely look into that, that will help a lot

In my case it was in this game that I started using the BF-109 ... (year 1995 approx).. It was an excellent game, it allowed you to play a Dogfight between planes from different eras ... one against one, one against several ..

I remember the introduction video was excellent ...

My first simulator, in the year 1989... I played this game for many hours on an XT PC (Hercules monochrome screen in my case) ...

Blue bulb: Multiplier of research points.
Lions: Money Multiplier

In this way you can put together a selection of planes according to what you want to do ..

Up to Tier 2, money is not going to be a problem ... you will earn more than it costs to buy and assign a crew to an airplane, but from Tier 3, money will start to be a problem (for example, a Tier IV plane can cost you about 550.000 lions, and train a crew for that plane about 50,000 lions, add the fact of specializing the crew, another 70,000 lions..) so another point to consider is how much it costs to repair the plane, because it is what you will lose if you get shot down...
