Not really to do with me but about 25 years ago the slaughterhouse my dad worked in caught on fire, long story short they just grabbed whatever meat they could and took it all home while the place burned. My dad left a 100 year old Sheffield pipe steel I let him borrow in his locker though and all that shit melted. Words were exchanged along with a whole brisket he grabbed.

Ah, I forgot. I didn't get caught. There was a kind of poor investigation but nothing came out.
Happened in '88 in Hamburg, awful site, one of the worst jobs I ever had. Incapable management/site leaders and corrupt politics in the background, it was a big scandal in the '90s later. The 25-floor high building should be renewed first but at the end 6 years later and XXX million Deutschmarks lost, we came back a last time and blew everything up.

Stole $800 merchandise from a well known retailer, as well as 1200.00 in cash bc I was homeless and needed money and clothes, food etc. Got caught, was charged with a Theft Felony Class 4. Wish I can go back and change all that. Hopefully it can be expunged 30 years later.

Stole minor items like pens, roll of tape, pack of post-it’s, etc but only one thing of significance. Early in my professional career I was a product manager for a computer company and when I moved into my cubicle I found about a dozen memory SIMM modules the previous occupant had left behind. After a few months asked my boss what I should do with them, he just shrugged and said “I don’t know” (not the most inspiring of leaders). So another few months I said fuck it and they went home with me. Listed them on a buy/sell site and sold most of them over the course of a weekend. Think I netted around $500.

But I was scared shitless I was going to get caught. Never did tho. Doubt they were ever noticed as missing. Funny thing is one of my coworkers was busted about a year later for stealing $100k in new hard drives and ram.

How ab having a job at the beach where you attend chair sets that you charge a daily rate for, become cool with customers and subtly pry for how long they will be staying, if they won’t be there all day, the seats are accounted for in the system, and rescaling those chairs for cash low key.

When I was like 19 my manager had a pair of reeboks in the lunch room that he seemed to never use. My mom always taught me that if someone left something unattended then they must not need it that much so stealing it was justified. I took the shoes and of course he noticed immediately, he was going all around looking for them asking everyone how the hell his shoes could be missing. A couple months later I accidentally wore them to work and I realized it as I was standing face to face with the guy, a low counter between us was the only thing preventing him from seeing them. I reached into my pocket and said, "Oh shit I took my wife's keys and she has to get to work!" Straight bolted out of there, went home and changed shoes. I no longer steal, but my mom still does.
