GO GO BABIES!!!
Egg#2 on the left, Egg#1 on the right

PIP^--------------------------------------------------------PIP^

Egg #2 is putting that egg tooth to work.
An egg tooth is solely used for breaking through that thick egg shell. It's located on top of the chicks beak, and will fall off about a week after they hatch.

Egg#1 not to be out done, is working hard to be the first to the food.

Even though they were laid 4 days apart and labeled Egg#1 and Egg#2 in proper order, they PIP'd on the same day(yesterday). Which ever one fully hatches first will be E17, second place goes to E18.

THE RACE IS ON!!!

Is it already warm over the day where the tree/nest stands? Or in your area in general?
I just saw M15 (?) with open beak and breathing fast a bit.

E18 Official hatch: Sat.6:30pm

This is a record, having both chicks hatch the same day, just a couple hours apart. This nest never ceases to amaze.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!
INTRODUCING- E17 & E18

1241022a.jpg

First feeding is a squirrel brought in by Dad.
124841a.jpg

Cuteness overload as they both fall backwards trying to watch what Dad is doing.

He's so handsome!!!
It is pretty warm today, 75°F and muggy. Up in the nest it's even hotter. The panting is their way of regulating their body temp. You'll also see them with their wings out a bit instead of all tucked in.

For identification purposes... in close ups Harriet has a dark yellow line just above her eye, like eyeliner.
M15 does not. So, you got it right, that is in fact Dad in your screen grab. :)

Have you ever been to where they are?

CROW was called out to pull E17 and E18 from the nest. It was noticed that one of the chicks has an eye infection or possibly an injury of some sort.

Poor little. They took both for exams and treatment. Hopefully whatever it is, is not life threatening and they can be returned to the nest as soon as possible.

Ok. So... reports from CROW say that it's an eye infection, that both eaglets have. They've recieved antibiotics and eye drops and staff noticed an improvement of both chicks towards the end of today.

Someone mentioned they could be back in the nest in approximately two weeks. I don't know how accurate that time line is, hopefully it will be sooner. Two weeks seems like an awfully long ways away.

E17 getting a once over before being transported along with it's sibling to CROW.
What a cutie and bigger than you'd think just by seeing them on the cams.
Tomorrow they will be 7 days old.

It's a pity that one can't tell the parent eagles that's all good. That the eaglets will be back in a week or so. (We hope)
They must think instinctively they lost them to a predator, despite all the watchfulness.
