swimming with the BuOYS

Lifeguard instructor told us if they fight or climb on you, let them drown then swim back to shore.

That's poor advice for two reasons...

1) A drowning person is panicking and will most definitely grab at you and pull on you as they're trying to get themselves above the water.

2) Once they lock onto you, you'll have trouble getting away from them and may very likely drown...just like the White guy drowned who was trying to rescue the Negro in this video.

My advice to you, which is the safest and wisest advice, is never swim out to a drowning person unless you have a life preserver that you can throw to them...preferably on a rope, then you can pull the rope, along with the person holding the life preserver, back to shore.

Under no circumstances should you ever get within arm's reach of a drowning person.

Most Negroes can't swim.

It's highly unusual to find a Negro who is proficient at swimming.

Watch the Summer Olympics later this year and let me know how many Negroes you see in any of the swimming competitions.

Negroes are less buoyant than other races, this has to do mainly with the genetic differences of bone density and body composition...which in turn precludes them from being proficient at swimming.

The Negro in this video should have never been near the water.

Wow that was at The Foot of Ferry 2 yrs ago.

Correct, at the Foot of Ferry in the Niagara River.

The Negro couldn't swim at all, and yet he foolishly went in the water to retrieve a piece of driftwood to take home.

When he started to drown, a 29 year old White man (who was a good swimmer), went into the water to attempt to rescue him, but was pulled under the water by the Negro and drowned...the Negro subsequently drowned also.

The second safest way to do this is to approach the drowning person from behind and scoop your arm around their back and to the arm pit so they are floating on their back, then they are no longer struggling and able to breath in a relaxed position. As you're both on your backs, swim with you free arm and scissor kick your legs to a safe point where you both can stand in shallow water and off to safe area. Always make sure there is an extra person willing to help if possible before heading out to assist. Never approach a drowning victim head on, they will only drown you. This is a technique for lifeguards without his gear.

I learned a lot in 36 yrs of
Free Diving.

Wow, who knew the biology behind that interesting fact.

In lifeguard training, we're told early on that until we know the proper procedure, do not jump in and help because the victim will grab you down in survival mode. Better to have 1 drowning victim than 2. Not shitting you, that's what they teach us. It's cruel, but that's survival for you.

Proficient enough swimmers who can help are advised to swim up behind them with the feet out in front of you, legs locked straight. Hook the drowning victim with your heels under their armpits FROM BEHIND and then use your arms to swim backward. You will drag the victim up and across the surface. You can practice this in a wheeled desk chair. This way, your arms are free to get you BOTH to safety, they can't reach you because you're above/behind them, and they can breathe while you pull to a ledge/person/lifesaver. Obviously, this takes a lot of upper body strength to pull both the victim AND yourself to safety (as I said this was during lifeguard training). Always refer to that top paragraph if you have any doubts though.
