Am I the only one seeing violent images in my head when listening to musics I like ?

It happens a lot when listening to classical songs like this one...

In these kind of moments i can feel a pulse in my temples and I imagine myself torturing somebody in many refined ways covered in blood from head to feet, an ecstatic smile on my face, it really is realistic, almost as if I can feel it within my skin.
It's an orgasmic pleasure for me to imagine the bones of my victim cracking and breaking under my imaginary hammer, feeling the flesh tearing apart and the blood flowing like a river of rubies with its intoxicating metallic smell...

Am i the only one experiencing that ? Is it normal ?
I remember telling my psychiatrist about that, she looked a little surprised I think.

Music has always used been used as a driver for violence or war, just look at military history from all corners of the world. All armies, revolutionary uprises, progression to war is always accompanied by music. Even in battle itself music is played in various forms to inspire the combatants, right throughout history.

Well that's kinda how a compilation starts, with me anyway I think this goes with this and build from there, sometimes it builds big enough, sometimes it gets fucked off.
So I often think of gore listening to radio 2 yes.
Omg im glad not being alone, i thought i was going mad or something
Why do you think it happens ?
Do you think it's linked with our state of mental sanity ?
Sometimes when I'm listening to, for example, Slayer. While when I'm listening to Nirvana, not so much. My imagination is usually far more intricate and creative when I'm in quiet places, though.
I know what you mean, i needed really violent musics to see things before, but now im surprisingly able to see violent images even with calm musics.
At a time i used to avoid listening to this music since the images I saw were so violent that they triggered uncontrollable rage attacks

Did you get this idea from A Clockwork Orange?
I was experiencing that even before watching the movie... But it shocked me that the protagonist was in the same case as me about that.
In fact I read the book before seeing the movie and I don't remember that the author wrote about flashes of violence while listening to music.
It was almost a revelation, but I don't know how kubrick had the inspiration to add that in the movie...
Maybe it happenned to him too ?

I think it happens because I watch gore without sound a lot of the time, at work the radio might be on too, if it's a good video or splat I'll come back to listen to it when I can.

I also cut a lot the audio of gore videos since there is nothing really interesting to hear, this is why gore mixes perfectly well with music, it adds even more power to the images I think, and it's less boring too

My ideas usually go more with the reservoir dogs ear scene, a happy tune takes the edge off the visuals.
I've never seen a clockwork orange all the way through just bits, it was banned in the UK for so long it became really dated.

Yeah I do leave the odd gunshot or scream in but most videos I turn the sound off and just let the music play.

I’ve heard about this banning in the UK and all this business with β€œvideo nasties”. Pretty ridiculous.. I think Clockwork is a timeless piece myself though. I’ve watched it countless times and read the book twice. It was pretty tough to understand the 1st time with all the English slang.

Maybe because people watched "A Clockwork Orange"?

Edit: I missed the first reply that said that.
