That's not true. While all United States money is identified as "Legal tender" and is a valid, legal offer of payment for debts, there is no federal statute mandating that private businesses must accept cash or coins as a payment.
The guy isn't in debt to the store either. If no debt has been incurred, a person or business is not legally required to take U.S. currency.
She isn't required to accept it tho. Businesses can refuse to take your money if they want. It's a free country. And she may be the manager on duty.
