My gf broke up with me today. Shes a lefty and I'm a classical liberal which makes me conservative and we've had a lot of tense debates about feminism, communism and fascism as any loving couple does.

But today we spoke about immigration and I brought up the fact that kids are being raped by migrants. At first she said I was exaggerating but eventually she admitted its happening but that its not such a big issue. I asked her if shed be in favor of banning assault weapons if kids get killed and she said yes, not realising her hypocrisy. After getting nowhere with her i decided to GRAPHICALLY describe what happens in that situation, describing how the girl must feel and the sick actions a rapist takes. I spoke specifically in porno terms while describing this and she got really fucking pissed off and called me a sick fuck and broke up with me.

Was I in the wrong? Because I find it strange that shed find it disgusting that Id describe what a rapist does to a kid but she doesnt seem fazed by the actual rapists. That was kind of my point.
Anyway, good riddance to that crazy bitch..

She should explain how little of an issue it is to the kids and their parents, she'll wish she had a gun just for the kids.

maybe you should cook and eat her pets
Damn you're right. If I mentioned thats happening she woulda converted to conservative in an instant

When people think of crimes, especially terrible crimes like rape, they often do so without fully understanding their severity. Most people, in an effort to incur the least amount of emotional pain possible, conjure up images in their minds that they can safely deal with psychologically. Truly despicable crimes are experientially foreign to many people except as tropes in popular entertainment. To rephrase that: because many people have never experienced violence firsthand, their only real knowledge of such crimes is purely intellectual and divorced from first-person experience. So, when you described child rape to her you probably breached that psychological safety zone and really made her uncomfortable.

Also, most people do not like having their beliefs questioned. People's beliefs form the foundation of their worldviews. Without a stable worldview, life itself feels unstable. For example, imagine being a theist: being secure in the belief that God exists, that He loves us, that He cares for us, and that He grants us a place in heaven. Now imagine losing that belief in God for one reason or another: all the security that a knowledge of God's existence gave you is now gone, and the world no longer makes sense like it once did. That sense of security is now gone. One's political beliefs also provide a similar foundation, so calling those beliefs into question is similarly - but to a lesser degree - psychologically destabilizing.

So, in making her consider the grisly details of child rape, and in pointing out the errors in her logic, you made her a little uncomfortable in two different ways with some good old fashioned cognitive dissonance. At the very worst, you destabilized the political basis of her worldview; at the very best, you only made her a little emotionally uncomfortable. In either case, if you two have a strong relationship, whatever happened tonight may not be the end of it.

Learned a long time ago theres no logic or reasoning with women. Trying to understand them is like trying to understand the universe, it aint happening. It is best to let them be. The majority end up becoming lonely, nutty cat ladies, once their beauty fades.

Fuck all that faggot shit. She sounds like a stupid whore anyway. He should get himself a new woman.

I, for one, am a leftist who is actually opposed to open borders.

Part of my reasoning for my position is humanitarian, concerned for the welfare of illegals who are brought into this country by exploitative labor companies. But another part is a concern shared by conservatives, people who cannot properly assimilate and end up causing even more trouble in the states than wherever they came from.

I feel like your gf would probably dump my ass too, despite us having some common ground on other topics.
