Dogs do some very funny stuff. We have a 5 year old staffy called Ruby who just loves toys with squeakers in them. Goes nuts about them! Chewing and making the damn thing squeak then running outside and squeaking her self stupid. The other staffy never shows any interest at all.

Such toys reinforce the instinct of killing smaller prey, hence the squeak. They will thrash the item about until the squeak stops or until they get tired. Some don't bother as they know from where their food comes.
