PHILADELPHIA – An 18-year-old man died Tuesday after he fell from a light pole during celebrations after the Eagles NFC Championship win over the weekend.

Tyler Sabapathy, a Temple University student, suffered brain trauma after a fall on 15th and Market streets on Sunday night and was then placed on life support before dying at Jefferson Hospital.

Video shows the teen above on the street pole before he fell onto the concrete sidewalk flat on his back, hitting his head.

Sabapathy was a native of Toronto, Canada. He was majoring in exercise and sport science and was a member of the university’s club gymnastics team.

So tragic. Another “brilliant future leader of government or enterprise” life was taken by the negligence of a municipality.

This was a foreseeable event. The city is to blame, not the “child” who by no fault of their own became intoxicated, was forced up the pole and fell, dying a miserable public death…

Truly anyone within a 10 block radius should be compensated for the PTSD they don’t realize they are suffering due to the cities actions allowing this tragedy to occur.

Alcohol and young men don't mix too well, speaking from experience.
I drank heavily at his age, and continued to do so for the next 25years. There would have been at least 10 times I came extremely close to dying due to drunken overconfidence combined with the craziness of youth. Cousins and friends did similarly and died. Cars, drugs, boats, and falls attributed to it.
Somehow I survived.
Sometimes luck saves, sometimes a last second change of mind.
