Serious People who cross on zebra crossings (don't know the American translation for zebra crossings)

So when someone crosses on the zebra crossing its their right of way (and I get that)

But what I dont understand is people that see you coming, head then down like they haven't seen you and proceed to walk out in the road and expect you to stop for them.

Again it's their right of way but what people don't seem to understand if im not concentrating im going to run this person over!

It'll be my fault but all I'll get is a fine and a dent in my bumper but they can potentially have life threatening injuries or die!

Why do people risk it!?

Risk it 🤣🤣 to get to the other side 🤯🤣

It’s called a crosswalk. And user beware.

They have signs to indicate when you should walk or don’t walk. If it says don’t walk, you’re taking the risk of being run over.

Right of way clarification is at state or city ordinance level, so it will vary.
I've been pulled over for not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. My bad 🤷

Zebra Crossing... hehe.
You must be a Kraut too

I don't take chances any more since I was run over in the mid-70's walking between cars and slipping on the ice. The lady that ran me over couldn't see me because her windows were fogged and iced up. I was lucky because she ran my legs over which didn't hurt much, but I learned a valuable lesson that day, -trust no vehicle will stop for you. Now-a-days I wait to cross or if vehicles are kind enough to stop.

You've answered yourself multiple times, it’s YOUR responsibility to stop and if you're that much of a shit cunt driver that pays no attention to the road when operating a vehicle, you shouldn't be allowed to drive.

If you run someone over, and they get seriously hurt, it's a payday for them and jail for you.........

People that cross the zebra crossing if cars are coming, have faith in humanity, that people will adhere to the law and who has right of way. That the person in the car isn't a mouth breathing amoeba that shouldn't be driving.....

I'm not gonna stop and let traffic through, the zebra crossing is designed for my benefit, not a driver.

This is based on UK law and im pretty sure European law also.

Just look at the drivers face, you'll see if hes actually concentrating or not. But like I said, you're looking for the payday if you get hit, and if you die you get fuck all..

Nah, i'll continue on my way like the right i have to do so, if you hit me, you're going to jail for a very long time. idgaf.

Some clarification: In the Netherlands those crossings are called "zeprapaden", literally translated "paths for zebras"; There are those with lights, and those without lights.

At those without lights a motorist MUST stop if there is an indication of a pedestrian intending to cross, providing of course that they are close enough to the crossing. Not stopping may lead to a fine.

(At those WITH lights motorists do well to check if the pedestrian(s) does/do not ignore the red light (like the phone zombies) because if he/she runs down the pedestrian(s) he/she will not only get a fine but will be charged with man slaughter.

Amen.

@Donkeyd said "It'll be my fault but all I'll get is a fine and a dent in my bumper but they can potentially have life threatening injuries or die!"

No. As noted, you will be charged with "manslaughter" (dood door schuld).

Zebra crossings give right of way to the walkers but you shouldn't walk and expect cars to stop. You wait at the end and wait for the cars to stop, then pass through. I always stop for people at zebra crossings since they've the right of way.

People who walk regardless of whether or not cars are on the road are begging for Darwin awards, especially with the spike in Pajeet drivers hounding Britain's roads.
