It is alleged that Cruz Gomez, 38, of Uniondale, made “crude sexual solicitations” towards 16-year-old Jhoanny Alvarez and her mother while outside Prima Donna Restaurant on Roosevelt Avenue at around 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, which sparked a fight between Cruz Gomez and Alvarez’s boyfriend and stepfather.

D.A. Katz said Cruz Gomez offered each of the girls money for sexual acts.

After the pair confronted him and left to the other side of the street, Cruz Gomez allegedly got in his SUV and drove directly for the group of four, pinning Alvarez to a pole, ultimately killing her. The mother and stepfather were also hit and injured.

Cruz Gomez allegedly fled the scene until he struck an unoccupied van. According to Katz, Cruz Gomez’s blood-alcohol content measured at .137%, which is above the legal limit of .08%.

Cruz Gomez was charged Sunday with murder, attempted murder, vehicular manslaughter, assault, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and other related charges.
