It’s not that at all or at bests that’s a minority reason. I think the main reason is it’s the chaos and disinformation of social media and YouTube and, perhaps most important, economic problems. In vast areas of the country, places like where Trump won, Michigan and Pennsylvania. De-industrialization combined with the failure of the local and state governments to transition these areas to post-industrial economies has hollowed out vast areas of the country.

Economic decline like this is going to lead to the rise of political right wing extremism (and left). It’s true for the original Nazi state of German. The rise of the Nazis and Hitler most probably doesn’t happen without the economic devastation of the Great Depression.

This extremes of the left is a minor reason. I agree that extremes can feed off eachother. We do that in the Palestine-Israel situation, the bitterness and hatred and religious tribalism have both feed off eachother and grown over the decades it’s a tragedy. So I think it can have an effect but it’s not the main force.
