On the morning of December 21, the An Chau Commune Police coordinated with the Nghe An Provincial Police to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
According to initial information, around 9:00 PM on December 20, K. (15) and two 13-year-olds—all residents of An Chau commune—were riding on a single motorbike from Hau Hoa Parish back to their local area to celebrate Christmas.
While traveling on the inter-commune road bordering the Dien Loc – Dien Tan (former) area, the motorbike collided with an oncoming truck that was making a left turn into a resident's home.
The impact threw the three teenagers onto the road; K. died at the scene, while the other two suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Nghe An General Friendship Hospital for emergency treatment.
At the scene, the motorbike was heavily damaged with debris scattered across the road, and the truck sustained front-end damage. The road section where the accident occurred is over 6 meters wide, features many small alleys, and lacks a public street lighting system.
Initially, authorities determined that the motorbike carrying the three teenagers was traveling at high speed, leaving the truck driver unable to react in time. The scene investigation noted that the motorbike riders were not wearing helmets.
