Why are so many people against socialism/communism?

Objectively a socialist or communist state sounds like a pretty good deal for the citizens and the government. Obviously you can take it too far like North Korea but I feel like China has the perfect balance of the two. As someone who’s lived in China, surviving is just so much easier. I actually had a very hard time when I moved back to the states financially. My healthcare was completely free or very inexpensive in China and it seems like the quality of life is still pretty good even if you age a poor worker. I’ve always been fascinated by the red scare era of American History. ( this is my 1st post btw so sorry if it’s terrible )

Well I live in a managed complex , no HOA lol but yeah I don’t have any guns. The laws are a little more strict in New York plus my neighborhood is pretty safe, low crime rate. I definitely would own one if I lived in the rough part of town

lol I’ve been back many times and it’s quite enjoyable every time. I suggest maybe you try to travel there sometime although I can understand economic restraints. You have to be in a certain tax bracket for regular international travel.

The problems with communism and socialism are the same as the problem with capitalism. Each philosophy has its good and bad points. But all three are subject to the rules of greedy, selfish people! Think of how wonderful Soviet communism would have been if the politburo didn't think so much more of themselves than they did their citizens. Those folks didn't actually own anything but they lived incredibly luxurious lives while their citizens lived in small apartments with three or four generations of their families, waiting in long lines for the basic necessities. Think of how much better the lives of average Americans would be if the captains of industry were satisfied with being rich.....always flying 1st class instead of being mega-rich and having their own jets. Being satisfied with a 60 foot yacht instead of ship with a 60 foot yacht as a support vessel. Being satisfied being a multimillionaire instead of a billionaire. Why is enough never enough? GREED!

Thank you for your response! It’s so interesting watching videos of North Koreans and the way they live under the absolute rule of the government. When you compare that to a nation like the United States, it’s a day and night difference. The Soviets really did a number on that county. We all would benefit from being a little more content in our lives instead of always chasing more or trying to one up the person next to us. I guess whatever system you pick , you’ll always get screwed over by the ultra wealthy top 1%.
