Exactly! I accidentally knocked out an ex GF with my elbow during a fight because I thought dudes friend was jumping in from behind. I didn't waste time looking at who it was I spun backwards and nailed her in the side of the head. Funny enough the dude I was fighting got up and started helping me with her. Fanning her with his shirt while I held my shirt to the gash on her face from when she fell. We're still friends to this day.
All she had to do was stay the fuck out of it.

I was running a bar when my wife and I first got together. She learned very quickly to stay the fuck out of the way when shit went South. I made it very clear that her interference would put both of us in danger.
