This is common among catfish. These animals have a well-deserved reputation for being "greedy."
There are videos showing them swallowing smaller fish (though still quite large) whole, without killing them first; you can even see how the fish’s tail sticks out of the catfish’s mouth and keeps moving even after the fish is already inside.
I remember seeing a video of a catfish in an aquarium that, even with a huge fish already inside, managed to swallow another one.
Not surprisingly, one of the species is literally called the “gulper catfish,” known in Spanish as “pez gato ogro” (lit. “ogre catfish”).
