I didn't even know this game existed a year ago, I mostly played company of heroes until sega fucked that franchise up. All my guys ran out of bullets, and some german sniper killed them all one by one (didn't know about picking shit up/examine). Great stuff, deep game.
First titles had an excessive micromanagement, inventory had loads of stuff you could or have to use. I.e., Matches to light up a dynamite charge or a heap of straw, molotov cocktails, tool-box to repair arms/tanks, mine-seekers etc. Quite difficult at times in real-time, you couldn't pause the game to give orders or change things/weapons in the inventory.
First Company of Heroes titles are great, good mix between 'reality' and action. I have them still installed (all in one) to repeat a mission once a while.
Haven't played the 2nd series until now, seems not so good you wrote here once.
The later Total War titles weren't my taste as well, campaigns in multiplayer style. Same with Dawn of War2 and Supreme Commander2
