here in Texas the doors are pretty sturdy I'd say, the problem is managing to balance out safety and not making the whole place like a bunker with no windows or anything that someone can break through. The doors are pretty heavy and I'd assume it would take quite a bit to take down, the problem is the window, my school had a narrow but tall window on most class doors

It would take quite a bit for one person to get through. Even if it doesn't stop someone, it would slow them down significantly. I would imagine that in their safety training that kids are taught about line of sight. If not, it should be. Most kids probably understand the concept from playing shooter games already. They would need some guidance on how to apply that knowledge in real life settings.

There are a lot of things that can be done to fortify school buildings without making them look like a bunker. Reinforcing or replacing fire containment doors and stairwell doors would be a good place to start. They could double up doors at every entrance point. If a shooter manages to get through the first set of doors they would have to contend with a second set of doors.

Instead of the US government sending billions of dollars to protect other countries, they could use that money to fortify America's schools. Until our own shit gets fixed, we shouldn't be sending money to other countries.
