The incident occurred shortly before midnight at Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao, a restaurant located near Lat Phrao Soi 1 in Bangkok's Chatuchak District. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation by authorities.
Watee Asawutmangkun, Commander of the Police Forensic Science Division, said after inspecting the scene that investigators have identified the area where the fire is believed to have started, which was near the stage. However, a more detailed forensic examination will be conducted again at 9:00 a.m. today.
Meanwhile, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has made a preliminary assessment that the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit in an air-conditioning unit installed above the ceiling.
