A 73-year-old woman died and two motorcyclists were injured in an accident on Avenida 17 and Rua 20, in the center of Ituiutaba. The collision occurred after the motorcyclists crossed the intersection with a red light and were hit by a car. See the video above.
In the security camera images it is possible to see that three motorcycles are stopped on 20th Street, when one of them accelerates with the traffic light closed. Two other motorcyclists also accelerate.
When they are in the middle of the intersection, a vehicle traveling along Avenida 17, with the traffic light open, hits two motorcycles. The first motorcycle to be hit had two people, a mother and son, a 47-year-old man, and the elderly woman.
He was thrown onto the wrong side of the avenue and, according to the Fire Department, suffered fractures to his body. The elderly woman was thrown into the construction site and suffered an open fracture in her leg.
Both were taken to São José Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and died.
